In 2006, murder victims’ family members put IllinoisVictims.Org on the internet in response to proposed legislation that could free the offenders in their cases without the victims families’ knowledge or input. Out of concern for all the victims like us who may not know their rights under the Illinois Constitution, the website was posted as an information exchange and resource.
In the years since, IllinoisVictims.Org has grown into a statewide organization and in February of 2009 we made the organization official. We formed a Board of Directors, and the ten new board members, all expert and professional victims or victim advocates, began work to form IllinoisVictims.org as an non-profit organization.
