Trauma
Crime Victims are often traumatized, and the more serious the crime, the greater the trauma. Traumatic memories are laid down in the brain in a different way than normal memories, and trauma has significant neurological and physiological impact on the human body and psyche. Victims of violent crime and traumatic loss should seek professional support and assistance.
Just as victims often take action in the wake of their victimization, we created this website and Crime Victims United of Illinois so that we can be of support and assistance to each other. It is not uncommon that crime victims become active in various causes related to their victimization. There are many such examples in Illinois.
