National Day of Remembrance for Homicide Victims
Each year around September 25 the Congressionally declared Day of Remembrance for Homicide Victims is observed throughout the nation. Started by POMC (Parents of Murdered Children) www.pomc.org the headquarters in Ohio features a murder wall with names and stories that is powerful, and not to be missed if you are ever in Cinncinnati.
In Chicago this year, all are invited to 7800 S Racine in Chicago at the St Sabina School, Saturday, Sept 24, 1-4 p.m.
Please bring 8×10 Framed photo(no larger please) to include in candle lighting ceremony with the POMC chapters
Sunday, Sept 25 Peoria Chapter of POMC will be holding the National Day of Remembrance Ceremonies from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. at the Gateway Building at the Peoria River Front, 200 Northeast Water. Keynote speaker will be Adam White. Information will be given on Victims Rights and on Grieving. Balloons and candles will be included in the ceremony. If you want your loved ones’ photos to be included in the ceremony, they must be submitted to Yolanda Wallace by Sept 19 at PeoriaPOMC1@yahoo.com or call Yolanda 309-648-2951
COOK COUNTY 22nd Annual Victim Memorial Service
September 24, 2011 is the 22nd Annual Cook County Victim Memorial Service: A Tribune to Victims of Homicide and Reckless Homicide. It will be held at the University of Illinois at Chicago Forum, 725 W. Roosevelt Road in Chicago. Registration begins at 10 a.m. There will be information booths, including one for Crime Victims United of Illinois. The Memorial Service begins at 11 a.m. and there will be a support group at 12:30 p.m. For more information call 773-674-7201.
